Meet the 22 year old IIT Delhi founder bringing people together

Social Networking

India

22 Years

My name is Akshat Singh. I am a Civil Engineering undergraduate at IIT Delhi and the CEO & Founder of TraBii. I have dedicated my academic and entrepreneurial journey to understanding the challenges of modern social interactions and finding ways to bridge the gap between digital overload and genuine, in-person connections. Currently, I am channeling my passion into developing TraBii, an AI-powered event discovery platform that not only curates personalized social experiences but also simplifies group coordination.

TraBii was born out of my personal experiences with the difficulties of planning and coordinating social outings. During my drop year and later at IIT Delhi, I encountered firsthand the frustration of aligning schedules and interests among friends. Realizing that many people faced similar challenges, I was inspired to create a solution that could streamline event discovery and planning through technology. This led me to build TraBii at 19. It is a platform designed to address these pain points by offering tailored event recommendations and facilitating seamless group interactions.

My Mission: Helping people make meaningful connections through shared experiences.

At TraBii, our mission is to revolutionize how individuals discover and engage in social activities by using AI to curate personalized event recommendations that resonate with each user's unique interests and group dynamics. We strive to transform every outing into a memorable experience that not only entertains but also fosters genuine human connection.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that shared experiences can profoundly impact personal growth and community building. By simplifying the process of finding and organizing events, we aim to reduce the barriers that prevent people from stepping out of their routines and embracing new social opportunities. Ultimately, TraBii is dedicated to creating an ecosystem where technology enhances, rather than hinders, authentic interpersonal connections.

My academic journey at IIT Delhi has honed my analytical and problem-solving skills, while my personal experiences with the challenges of decision-making and financial constraints have instilled a deep understanding of the human need for connection. Balancing rigorous coursework with the demands of launching a startup has taught me resilience and adaptability.

I am passionate about leveraging technology to address everyday challenges, particularly those related to social interaction and community building. The vision behind TraBii is to create a platform that transcends traditional event discovery by integrating AI-driven personalization with seamless group coordination. I envision a future where finding the right social experience is effortless, empowering individuals to connect in ways that enrich their lives both personally and professionally.

"Social media connects us virtually, but TraBii connects us in real life."

What inspired you to start your own business?

My inspiration to start my business stemmed from my own struggles with planning social outings and the pervasive sense of disconnect I observed among my peers. During my drop year and later at IIT Delhi, I consistently found it challenging to coordinate plans with friends. So many things to coordinate, align everyone's schedules, interests, and free time often felt like a huge task.. I realized that while social media offered virtual connections, it was falling short in facilitating genuine, in-person interactions.

In my drop year. I was alone and all my friends went out to their respective colleges. I wanted to experience and have fun together with other people. But I was unable to do anything. It was awkward and messy when I asked people to go out and have fun with me. There was not any solution available. So I decided to make it myself.

There was a defining moment when I recognized that my frustration with the lack of streamlined event planning wasn’t just a problem I had. It was a common issue that made it hard for people to forge meaningful social bonds. That realization sparked the idea for TraBii. I envisioned a platform that leveraged AI to provide personalized event recommendations and simplify group coordination, making it easier for people to connect, share experiences, and truly enjoy life beyond the digital realm.

How did you turn your idea into a business?

So I started with a competition happening in my college. So I already had a subject in mind. So I came up with this idea. So then basically I started building from then. Focusing mainly on Validation. After the competition I still kept working on it. Even though my teammates stopped working. I still kept on working on the idea. I found the people who liked the idea. Some were working a job. Some were still in college. I developed the team and we just started working together. The first milestone was that I got into Microsoft for Startup which provided me technical credits to work on my startup. Other than that we got many certifications and achieved many milestones.

How did you get your customers?

Right now we have just launched the product and now we are marketing our solutions. We are trying to get our first customers from Instagram. We are marketing our app through organic content. We are using the company's account and my personal Instagram account to share my journey of building my startup to attract an audience and build personal connections with them.

Our Short term goals include getting our first customers that really want to help us grow and win. We are looking for the first 10K organic users.

Our Long term goals include getting our long term customers. We want every youth to have the TraBii app. So that they can enjoy getting out and living their best life out. This will help us in achieving our main vision. To create meaningful connections through shared activities. This will help in reducing the overdependence on social media and trying to connect more with the people, life and experiences.

What is your average monthly revenue?

We are right now in the pre revenue stage building our customer base first. But we do have some milestones to share.

How are you doing today and what plans for the future?

I’m feeling motivated and focused on the future, even though the journey has had its ups and downs. Today, I’m energized by the progress we’ve made with TraBii, and I’m determined to keep improving both our product and my personal growth. Here’s an overview of my current state and future plans:

What’s Working:

  • Our core platform is live and serving early users, with positive feedback validating our AI-driven event recommendations.

  • The pilot program, with 50 active users, has provided invaluable insights that are steering our development efforts.

  • Strategic partnerships and recognition through industry programs (Microsoft for Startups, Google for Startups, NVIDIA Inception, etc.) have boosted our credibility and market visibility.

  • Building a personal brand on social media is slowly creating organic growth and a community that trusts our vision.

Mistakes and Challenges:

  • Early on, over-planning and under-execution led to missed opportunities, causing delays in MVP rollout.

  • Balancing academic commitments with startup demands has been challenging, sometimes resulting in bad time management.

  • The lack of a mentor or structured guidance in certain phases slowed down decision-making and product development.

  • Technical hurdles, such as configuring our backend infrastructure, required more time and resources than initially anticipated.

Some of the good things we have done is focusing on a lean MVP. This allowed us to test and iterate quickly, incorporating real user feedback into our product roadmap.

Choosing to invest in digital marketing and personal branding has set a strong foundation for organic growth.

My ability to stay resilient under pressure helps me push through setbacks and continuously learn from each experience.

Being open to feedback; both from users and mentors, helps me in making the product better.

Looking ahead, my plan is to refine the platform further by focusing on enhancing our AI capabilities, expanding our user base, and forging additional strategic partnerships. I aim to balance my academic commitments while driving TraBii towards becoming a truly scalable solution in the event discovery space.

What advice do you have for budding founders?

My personal philosophy is to "Play Big Games". That’s what I encourage people to do. To do things which make your life worth living. Now big does not mean doing grand things. It means choosing what you deem as unattainable and just getting it. Since sometimes winning is not in our control. But taking part in games is possible. So why not Play the Biggest Games you can play.
