How Fatima Khan Built a Thriving 6-Figure Coaching Brand Through LinkedIn In Less Than A Year

Hi, I’m Fatima, founder of LinkedIn Tea. I work with B2B founders, coaches and consultants to grow their personal brands on LinkedIn. I’ve been recognized as the top 5 LinkedIn creators in the UK and among the top 200 female creators globally.

My life completely changed when I started building my personal brand on LinkedIn, which opened doors for me that I didn't know existed.

I'm a huge advocate of building your personal brand alongside your business as it can become your best marketing asset. Founder-led marketing is the future. In a noisy, crowded market, the most powerful differentiator is you. Your story. Your energy. Your why. People follow people, not faceless brands. And the proof is everywhere.

Look at Steven Bartlett; he has over 4 million followers on Instagram, while his company, Flight Story, has a fraction of that. Elon Musk has over 220 million followers, while Tesla’s account sits far behind. Richard Branson’s personality is the Virgin brand. These founders have built ecosystems of trust and influence because people know them, not just what they sell.

That’s the power of a personal brand. It builds emotional equity, opens doors, and future-proofs your business. The moment I stopped playing small and started showing up as the founder, I saw the impact, and there’s no going back.

The DMs kept coming: ‘Do you coach? Can you ghostwrite?’ That’s when I realized, I can make this a business.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I started my personal branding business off the back of my own personal brand. In January 2023, I was working full-time as a social media marketer. I had just moved to the UK and I didn’t know anyone in the marketing industry, so I turned to LinkedIn to build my network.

I began posting regularly, simply observing how active and engaged people were in my space. Within eight months, I grew my presence to become one of the top 200 female creators on the platform globally. That visibility changed everything—my DMs started flooding with inquiries: “Do you offer ghostwriting? Do you coach?”

That demand sparked something. I realized that there was a real opportunity here, so I started offering coaching services on the side. Eventually, I left my full-time job to pursue what began as a side hustle and turned it into a business that I love.

How did you turn your idea into a business?

It all started with a simple waitlist. I announced on LinkedIn that I’d soon be opening up coaching slots for personal branding and LinkedIn growth, and invited anyone interested to sign up. I pinned the post to my profile and let it sit, and within a week, I had 15+ sign-ups. That was the sign I needed.

From there, I set up a Stan Store account to streamline bookings and payments, and officially launched my coaching offer. I got booked out quickly with back-to-back coaching calls. With each session, I refined my offer based on real conversations and feedback, making it stronger and more aligned with what my clients truly needed.

What started as a simple test turned into a fully operational business, and it’s been growing ever since.

How did you get your customers?

By the time I launched my coaching offer, I had already spent several months building trust and credibility with my audience. I was consistently showing up on LinkedIn, sharing insights about personal branding, content strategy, and my own journey. That consistency has helped me grow a highly engaged audience of over 10,000 followers.

When I announced my waitlist for personal branding and LinkedIn growth coaching, it acted as a filter to identify my warmest prospects, i.e. the ones who were not just curious, but ready to invest. Within a week, I had 15 sign-ups without spending a penny on ads. These early subscribers became my first paying clients.

From there, I focused on delivering a high-touch experience. I treated every coaching session as both a service and a listening exercise. Their feedback helped me continuously refine my offer.

What is your average monthly revenue?

I’m on track to hit six figures this year.

How are you doing today and what plans for the future?

Things are growing steadily, and I’m in an exciting transition phase. My audience on LinkedIn continues to be my biggest driver for leads, and the trust I’ve built there has translated directly into sales.

Although, managing my time as a solo founder has been a real challenge. I’ve been running 1:1 coaching, which is incredibly rewarding but not scalable. So this month, I’m transitioning to group coaching to build stronger systems, create more impact, and reclaim some balance. It’s a big step toward scaling sustainably.

If I could go back, I would’ve started systemizing earlier, things like automating onboarding or building content repurposing workflows. But every challenge has pushed me to grow, and I’m very excited for what’s next.

What advice would you give to budding founders?

  1. Believe in yourself: you can do it if you put your mind to it.

  2. Promote yourself unapologetically: no one else is going to do it for you (at least not at the beginning)

  3. Act fast: money loves speed.

  4. Action = direction. You’ll find your answers along the way.

  5. Fail more: Every messy action is better than a perfect inaction. Fail more, fail fast, fail forward; there’s no better way to learn and improve.
